As many Silvers know, serving on the board of a nonprofit is an extremely rewarding experience. I had the opportunity to take the New York Junior League’s Nonprofit Board’s Clearinghouse workshop last year in preparation for my current role as a Board Member with Hudson River Community Sailing. This course is incredibly thorough and helpful; topics include board roles and responsibilities, monitoring financial policies, understanding legal responsibilities, developing strategic plans, and acquiring effective leadership skills. Whether you take the five-night course or the accelerated course, you get an Executive Director Panel and Networking to introduce you to dynamic New York City nonprofits looking for trained board members. My experience was so wonderful I had to showcase it for you!

Nonprofit Boards Clearinghouse teaches nonprofit board leadership skills through workshops on topics that include board roles and responsibilities, monitoring financial policies, understanding legal responsibilities of board members, and developing strategic plans.

“The Nonprofit Boards Clearinghouse course is unique as it trains present and potential board members to understand their duties, gain insight into the workings of a nonprofit, and help find pathways to advancing the organization’s mission,” says Diann Rohde, former NYJL President, former AJLI Board Member, and NPBC course presenter. “To have trained board members is a gift to a nonprofit and to making the New York City community stronger.”
